Is there any way to use a different permalink structures for pages and posts?

Ideally, I’d like to have /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname% for posts and /%postname% or /pages/%postname% for pages. This is logical because posts will be date-specific while pages will not.

Alternatively, a way to create alternate permalinks for existing pages would meet my needs. For example, if I could set a rule within WordPress to say that http://myblog.com/about returns the same page as http://myblog.com/?p=123

This is an experimental site on my own local webserver. So, I don’t have concerns about breaking existing links.

I’ve observed that the full permalink to a post or page is contained within the wp_posts.guid field. I haven’t tried changing this manually yet. Even if it were to work, I’m sure it’s not the right way to do it.

    Thank you.

I seem to have solved my own problem. So, I’ve changed the status of this thread to “resolved”.

After reading Linking Posts Pages and Categories more carefully, I used the permalink structure I wanted for my posts and found that what I wanted to use for my pages works just fine.
