Support » Plugin: NextGEN Gallery - WordPress Gallery Plugin » Different number of columns for different pages

  • Hi there,

First of all let me say how happy I am with NextGEN Gallery plugin.

What I’ve been trying to achieve lately is having different column layout on different pages.

I have a page with portrait pictures where a 3 columns layout fits well, whereas on another page I got landscape pictures and I thought a 2 columns layout would be best.

Apparently on NextGEN Gallery there can be only 1 universal way of column layout :/ Considering how popular this plugin is I thought there might be a way to achieve what I’m after but I haven’t found anything so far.

Is there any way anyone could kindly help me achieve my goal?

    Many thanks.

    Regards,

    Eugene

  • I believe you can set the number of columns for an individual galley on a page/post by using the WordPress Custom Fields function and the NextGEN ngg_gal_Columns parameter.

For example, to have 3 columns you’d edit the gallery page.
    Clck “Add Custom Field”
    Click “Enter New”
In the Name field enter ngg_gal_Columns
In the Value field Value= 3
Then click “Update” to publish to update the page.

That works except that Value=3 should just be 3. In other words, you do not need Value=

    Hello everyone,

    Many thanks for your feedback.

I eventually fixed it by NOT selecting how many columns I needed, I left the text box blank, 0 columns.

By doing so I was able to let the size of the picture dictate how many columns there were, so that portrait images would form 3 columns and landscape one 2.

    Regards,

    Eugene
