Hey. I wonder how I can translate caption “Photo by” to different language? I tried loco translator but It doesn’t work. I even search for “Photo by” in plugin’s files and replace it but I still have “photo by” caption.

Any idea how to change that?

Hi @georgepennet, the caption you see on the images is stored as an attribute for the attachment. The new translation will only apply to new images, as when you download them, the caption is generated. That is the only time the auto-generated text is used(hence why you probably changed the translation, but nothing changed).

However, for the old images, you would need to search and replace them inside the database for the attachments. The caption will show up in the post_excerpt column.

I hope this helps, if you have any further questions, please reopen the ticket.

    Thank you,

Thank you for the reply. After i changed the translation I download new images and caption was still the same. It was still “Photo by” instead of my translation. I checked the caption in media library. I understand that it will not affect previously downloaded images. I’ll test it again tomorrow morning and let you know.

Im not sure how it’s even possible because like I said I changed that “photo by” literally everywhere.. I have indeed total cache plugin but this shouldn’t interfere with wp-admin. I cleared that cache even multiple times just in case.

I figured it out. I removed the translations completely, reinstall the plugin and it works now :). Thanks. One more thing. When I download an image I would like to leave only “Source: Pexels” instead of Photo by “Name_of_author” on Pexels. In short I want to remove the “Name_of_author” on”. Is it even possible?

Hi @georgepennet, glad to hear you sorted it out. For captions there’s a filter, you can change it. You can seem some samples here: https://stockpack.co/blog/changing-the-automated-captions/

If you can’t make it work, let me know,
    Ionut
