  • I have been looking for a weblog tool with a special feature. I know you are planning to add sub-categories to wordpress but I would like to know if it is possible to have always the same category news on the main page. As I know that a image is 1000 words take a look at the scheme:
    ================ Header ==================
    == Menu == =========== Cat1 =============
    == Menu == =========== Cat1 =============
    == Menu == == Cat2 == == Cat2 == == Cat2 ==
    == Menu == ==== Cat3 ==== ==== Cat3 ====
    ================ Footer ==================
    What I wanted to know is that this kind of scheme can be achived with WordPress. It would look like a newspaper, with two main news from the same category, 3 news from another category… I know that phpNuke can achive this but I don’t like the template system as it is not css-oriented and takes ages to design a good template that works.
    Thanks for your time and excuse my gramatical errors as I’m not english.

  • Yes, I have something similar although much simpler setup on my site. Smaller news blurbs are styled in a differently from main entries.

    I think that’s not what I was looking for. What I want is something like a newspaper. In the main page several catogories are shown but there will be always the same number of post in the page.
    Take a look at and you will see what I’m talking about. They have one main news, several short news and then news located by category… don’t know if this can be achieve with wordpress.

    Yes, I beliee this is pretty easy, I’ve done something similar. You just have to do multiple calls of the engine, resetting the $cat variable before each one.
