  • The business owner asked me why there is a difference between the length of the excerpts in the blogs (55 words) vs (9-11 words). I want both posts to show the default 55 words. So far I have:

    1. Checked WordPress admin and the blog pages to see if there are excerpts in the excerpts box – so far, no excerpts were added there.

    2. Checked the PHP template that helps build the blog page – so far the code that pulls in the excerpt is <?php the_excerpt(); ?> and no other PHP code there that could alter it – so nothing wrong there.

    3. Searched for custom excerpt code that could be causing problems – nothing in functions.php but I did find something in another included PHP file. To quickly test if this could be the culprit I removed the code from the file and tested the site (the staging site) and nothing changed.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I’ve tried added php functions I’ve found online to force different word lengths – but the china site won’t change.
