• Hey Folks: Thanks for your assistance.

I need someone to explain the difference between server statistics from bandwidth providers and those found on WordPress via Jetpack.

I rarely take the time to look at our stats via WordPress (four federal government sites) relying on page view stats from BlueHost (in the same way I relied on data from GoDaddy when we were there).

It’s always amazed me that the difference in page views is so large between WordPress (Jetpack) and server statistics with server stats providing the more generous numbers (by far).

    Why is that?

I tried to Google the subject to see if there were comparisons between WordPress and server stats; couldn’t find anything but I thought the WordPress support forum post below was interesting. It states that there were dramatic differences in the numbers provided by each plugin.

“I had been having some trouble with my favorite stats plugin so I decided to install and compare four of them. Just had a solid image posted to the blog yesterday which gave me a chance to see how each fared. Below I have put in the stat plugin, visits, page views. I am using the data from Google Analytics as my ‘gold standard’.

Wassup: 317 visits, 992 page views (excluded bots/spiders)
Slimstat: 104 visits, 210 page views
Statpress: 152 visits, 341 page views
Wordpress Popular Posts: 277 (I assume this measures page views but am not sure)

Google Analytics: 286 visits (271 unique), 815 page views”

Is there someone who can help me make sense of all this???

    Thanks, Len.
