# Difference between "All" and "Published" posts

 * Hi,
 * I was wondering what the difference is between “All” and “Published” posts? I
   signed into my admin this morning and it showed “All 5600” and “Published 4450”
   and when I signed in 2 hours later is only showed “Published 4100″… but I didn’t
   change anything.
 * I’ve tried adding up all of the published, draft and trashed items, but it isn’t
   even close.
 * When I click on “All” the number of posts available for browsing does not change.
 * I’m most concerned that over 300 posts seemed to spontaneously disappear from
   the Published list.
 * Any advice or ideas on how to access these 1500 posts apparently floating in 
   the ether?
 * BTW, I know I don’t have 1500 “private” posts either… if they are not counted
   under published.

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – repairing your database.
