Did I mess up? Moving blog confusion

  • OK, I started with a free wordpress blog http://activistmommy.wordpress.com but I wanted to remove the .wordpress so I bought the domain mapping and the hosting through wordpress so I have jsut http://activistmommy.com. Now I was offered a free hosting package by my company and I want to move my blog there so I can have access to the CSS and such without paying for upgrades. But I can’t find out how. Everythign I’ve read is for moving a free .wordpress blog to a host then doing domain mapping. Did I mess up by going with wordpress hosting first? Am I going to ahve to wait until my hosting is up first?

  • As you explore your options on your WordPress.com hosted blog, you’ll find the option to Export.

Do that. You’ll get a file to save. That contains your posts, categorys and comments.

Once your new self-hosted blog is up, you’ll find the option to Import that data. Manage -> Import, choose WordPress.
