 * Hi There,
 * I’ve been trying to do research on how I can do this and searched through the
   forums but I haven’t really found an answer.
 * I would like to set up a development area to test out a wordpress layout before
   pushing it live.
    So ideally I would like to have 2 sets of wordpress using the
   same database, one for my-domain.com and a duplicate of it dev.my-domain.com
   for testing before I upload or transfer my files to my-domain.com.
 * Can someone please tell me how to do this?

 * I believe all you’d need to do is install WordPress in both directories and edit
   the wp-config.php file so that the database information matches.
 * Then they’ll share the same database.
