    Hello,

I have an issue with one website. Almost every plugin and every theme fail to update.
I got the same message “Destination folder already exists” and “installation failed”

I read hundreds of topics and I’m not happy with the scenario that every time I have to think “will it be successful or fail”.
This is not one off situation.
Server admin checked user and group setup to the webserver folders. Checked attributes. These are set to 755 and files to 644 as what I can see.
We tried to setup directories to 775, but this did not help.

So, my question is not only how to fix it but what is causing this ?
I cannot login via ftp all the time and manually delete the folders and the files.

    Thanks,
    Marcin

    Hi @marcing00,

When you said, “This is not one off situation” – it sounds as though you have been through the process of deleting the affected plugin and theme directories; reinstalling them and for the same problem to happen again at a later time.

As this isn’t related to Wordfence it would be better to create a topic in this appropriate forum where more people will see it and will be able to offer advice:

    Fixing WordPress Forum

If you are unable to login via FTP at times you will need to ask your hosting provider to fix that for you. Ask them also to make sure all server software is up to date.
