Design problems with imported theme (4 posts)

    So I've discovered a whole world of hurt when trying to modifying this template. ;) I'm hoping someone can clue me in as I can't figure out how to move these elements within the templates themselves, or in the CSS (which admittedly is very foreign to me).

    Here's the site:

    And here are my issues:

    1. Large gaps in on my single post pages around the comment area. Shares number of responses, big gap. Comment. Big gap.

    Example (1 comment):

    Example (multiple comments):

    Example (no comment, looks perfect!):

    2. Search box. So I installed some Google Custom Search app but unfortunately, there seems to be no easy way of tying it to the existing search. How do you go about aligning that in the templates? It just needs to be finessed a bit.

    3. How do I find the background images used in the theme on my site as well? Is that in one of the Template pages, or the CSS? Can't seem to locate it anywhere.

    Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

    if you mean the space between the comment boxes, that is controlled by:

    .commentlist li {
    	margin: 15px 0 10px;
    	padding: 5px 5px 10px 10px;
    	list-style: none;
    	font-weight: bold;
    	font: 0.9em 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif;

    you can change the 'margin'; the figures are in the sequence: topmargin, left/rightmargin, bottommargin.

    the backgrounde images are in the folder:

    by the way: are you aware that you can style you google ads to match the style of your page?
    that is - to me - more distracting than the style of your search box ;-)

    Thanks for the reply!

    I actually figured out the comments error. The code that was already present for next and previous comment links was what was causing the spacing, and I yanked it and it's great. Not sure what the point of those were. Maybe for paging through comments?

    Ah, thanks for that. I kept looking in an "images" folder and got nowhere, that's great.

    Google ads - They definitely need some tweaking, though when they're running flash or graphic ads, it looks sweet. I wish the theme accommodated a 728x90 versus the 300x250 though, as I hate having that be the lead unit. Oh well.. How much can I style them? You mean setting background colors, etc?

    yes, background color, font color, individual color of the link etc - from within the google page where you make the ads.
