# Description HTML Not Working

* When i create a new event, the main description box i fill in and if i try and
use any HTML styling it gets excluded on the front end.
* I am using the FREE version.

* Hi Tia,
* I’m sorry that you’re running into this issue – when the description is used
as the excerpt (which is the case when an excerpt is not set manually), the HTML
will be stripped out in some views (like list). [This article](https://theeventscalendar.com/the-trouble-with-excerpts/)
has some more info on why this happens.
* To prevent this, you can use the excerpt box instead, which will not strip your
HTML.
