Deprecated Error, needs upgrade perhaps

I have a 2.6 version or something for starters. Anyway I am getting this massive deprecated errors on the blog page, on the admin page, everywhere. I am told updating the version may resolve this. I am not a computer expert, just The World’s Best Mediator, none of us are perfect, lol.

Anyway, can anyone help me out of the Word Press quagmire? Is there are simple solution to get rid of deprecated error messages? How do I get some help to upgrade to a newer version of WordPress?

To upgrade WordPress, go to

http://your-domain.com/wp-admin/update-core.php

And click on the upgrade button. Make sure to backup you site first, before doing this.

I really don’t know how to back up even ,and stuff. I believe I need a tad more specific input then that. Thank you. Sincerely, Jon

Based on your info, I believe you haven’t used your hosting panel for backups. In this case, it’s better to contact your host and let them backup the site for you.

There are a lot of nice backup plugins at

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

but the problem is your WordPress version is so old, I don’t think they will work on your site. Try your luck by searching “backup”.

Thank you. My sense is that I probably would benefit from someone who could walk me through or do this process. I am not sure what all the benefits are from upgrading, but I do blog often. Thank you.

I don’t think it’s realistically possible to walk you though this, unless you hire somebody to do so, it takes too much time and there are so much variables along the way. But there are already tutors for this:

I may have to hire someone at some point. The tutors look like gibberish to me.
