Deploying virtue free theme to live server and receive error (2 posts)

    At the moment I am struggling with moving my WordPress site using the Virtue Free theme from local to the live server. I am following this guide strictly btw: http://www.webdevdoor.com/wordpress/moving-wordpress-localhost-live-server/

    and so far I have completed step 1 to 5.

    I am able to browse every link and use any function on localhost but when I upload the whole thing to a sub directory (http://domain.dk/dev/) of my live server domain I receive the following error:

    Warning: require_once(/var/www/domain.dk/public_html/dev) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/frkvns.dk/public_html/dev/wp-content/themes/virtue-child/functions.php on line 6
    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '' (include_path='.') in /var/www/domain.dk/public_html/dev/wp-content/themes/virtue-child/functions.php on line 6

    I checked the error and line 6 in functions.php is:

    require_once locate_template('/themeoptions/options/virtue_extension.php'); // Options framework extension

    However, I am not using the functions.php in my child theme so I removed it. That results in a blank page when I reload the webpage. I also tried copying the virtue_extension.php from parent them to child theme using the same path but without any success.

    My .htaccess file (located in the root of the /dev/ dir:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /domain.dk/dev/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /domain.dk/dev/index.php [L]
    # END WordPress

    As stated above, I use WordPress 3.9.2 but without the newest update of the Virtue theme. I have not updated the Virtue theme because I have made some changes in the stylesheets (I know it is a "hack" but I did not have the time to fix it the right way and this website will not be re-used in the future") and since I did not receive any errors
    locally I suppose this combination of the newest WP and old theme is not the issue ?

    Thank you in advance,

    1. It looks like you have copied the functions from the theme into the functions file for the child theme, that is not how a child theme works. The functions file is not like a template file so it should be blank unless you have a specific extra function you want to add.
