    I understand that the premium version of MH Magazine includes an option to disable the featured image on single posts – is there a demo set up to show how the blog page works when using this feature?

  • Hi an2design4c,

    thanks for using MH Magazine lite.

    Disabling the featured image on posts won’t do anything with the blog page or other archives because the featured image still will be shown on these pages and also within the included custom widgets.

    The purpose of the option to disable the featured image on posts is to hide the featured image within the post itself, to prevent duplicate images on posts in case users have embedded images manually into posts, for example because their previous theme didn’t support featured images.

    O.k., so if a post dosen’t need an associated featured image, is there a way to not have the empty gray box show up?

    Sorry, it seems you misunderstood. A post does need a featured image to provide thumbnails for archives and custom widgets. The option to disable the featured image on posts is to prevent duplicate images within the post content, as explained before.

    Please keep in mind that this is a WordPress theme for online magazines and dynamic news websites. These kind of websites usually rely on images and you probably won’t find modern professional online magazines that don’t show at least one image within a post. You can find several examples of user sites in our showcase for inspiration.

    If you prefer having a website without any images for your posts, you probably would be better off by just using a very basic and plain blog theme without bells and whistles.

    Or you could simply globally hide the thumbnails on archives with some basic CSS:

    .loop-thumb { display: none; }
