deleting users (3 posts)

We have a blog at work for internal news and goofying about. When an employee leaves and I delete their account, I'd rather not have their posts be reassigned to a different user. Is there a plugin which allows you to delete a user, but have their posts still attached to that persons name? Perhaps a way to "archive" the user, or maybe even just disable the account.

    Thanks.

Can you change the password of the user's account?

Maybe you could change their status to something lower, maybe subscriber? That way they can still sign in and leave comments with their original profile. Not sure if that will mean that their posts will get changed, though

It would be nice it worked: if anything, it's a bit more friendly than deleting their account! Though if the blog was installed on an intranet I guess that wouldn't matter too much :)

I just reduce them to subscriber. You can also change their email to yours so they can't recover the password should you change their password to lock them out entirely. Changing their password and email is all you really need do to disable their access.
