Deleting Stats from a played game doesn’t work

Hey Leon,

it’s me again.

Even though my last questions were not resolved, I have the next support question(s).

1. Deleting Players from a played game

I tried it on my testserver and also on the liveserver:

If you insert full player stats for a certain game, it is not possible to delete those players and their stats again. I tried it in different ways, some are possible, some are not.

Deleting (or better unchecking) ALL the players at once and save it, doesn’t work at all.
Players and their goals are still there.

Deleting just a few players does work, until you have only one left. It’s not possible to delete the last one. (I mean UNCHECKING, which is deleting for me :D).

Maybe there is a failure in an array while saving? Could you try it at your own server?

2. Is the template system not working anymore?

I have some templates working for some of the shortcodes. Since a few days the system doesn’t take those templates anymore and takes the original files from the plugin instead (I guess). Did you change something in the folder structure?

I tested it with putting a random paragraph-tag and with commenting some lines in a template file (players-gallery shortcode). The file is uploaded correctly on the server – the same way I did it in the last months, but the p-tag doesn’t show up in the front end. Even the commented lines are still there. Dont know what happend.

Hi,

1. I’ll test that out. Unchecking the player should remove them from the player stats array for that match so if that isn’t happening I’ll fix it asap.

2. Nothing has changed to the template system for a long time so I don’t know what could be happening there. I’m not having this issue and I’ve not had any other reports of this (which I would have done by now) so I’m not sure what’s going on there. I do notice you are using a child theme so maybe you are changing the wrong templates?

Hi,

I’ve just done some testing and deleting (unchecking) players from the Player selection list on the match page works as expected.

If you uncheck a player they are removed from the wpcm_players array and any stats they acquired during that match are removed from their stats.

Have I misunderstood something? Are you referring to deleting players from the roster list or something else?

thanks again for helping me.

Forget the 2nd question, it was a mistake by myself. It’s so stupid I even dont want to explain it. 😀

The first question still drives me crazy. I deactivated the caching system, but I guess it has nothing to do with it. I can delete all the players, but a last single one, whoever it is, will stay and doesn’t go away. I can uncheck that last one and check another one, to be the last one, that wont go away. So its not a caching thing, but how its been saved?!

Hmmm.. debug doesn’t say anything.
The database is pretty huge, after I filled the archives.
I found an old database and installation. more than two years ago. same thing.

Ok, well that gives me more info to look at. So it seems the issue is when deleting all players. There is always one left?

Checking/unchecking players updates the wpcm_players array dynamically using javascript. I expect that’s where the issue is rather than caching.

I’ll look into it but I am curious to know how often this issue is a problem?

I can’t imagine why you would need to delete all players after a game has been played so I’m interested to know when this occurs and if I can improve the plugin, besides fixing the deleting the last player issue?

Hey Leon,

sorry for not coming back to my issues here. It’s christmas time and so on. 😀

There’s always one left in the list. No matter what. I just found out, I can also check a player within the substitutes or not-used list and uncheck the player in the start formation. But there’s always one left in at least one of the lists.

Well, of course there’s not too much use for it. It’s just: we had some testgames at the beginning of the season and logged the stats for ’em. After the start of the regular saison, we decided to take out the goals of all test games, to not let them count on the goals count for the players. It’s a huge difference through the years when counting test and friendly games or tournament games.
