    Hello,
I am new to all of this, and I am trying to delete all comment and posting boxes from my site. I am using the responsive theme, and all of the tutorials that I have checked out, are outdated.
I don’t have a small check box at the bottom, and I don’t have an option to “un-check” in my “settings> discussion” either. Out of frustration I deleted the whole comment.php file (after copying it first). That worked. I know that it is not wise to do this because when I go “live” I would eventually have issues.
So, I have learned that I can make a child theme but I still don’t know how to do it.
Can I just put the comment.php in my child theme and then delete the code, leaving the empty file.
    Thank You for any help,
    Sincerely,
    – Fritz

You might want to check out Responsive’s dedicated support forums here:

I think they have a free child theme that you can download, or see this for info on doing it yourself:

    WOW! Thanks.
When it comes to the Responsive child theme, I have been checking out the codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes info, and the stuff from “Theme iD”, it’s all great!
I will go to the Cyberchimps forum Re: my discussion box dilemma.
    I appreciate your quick response,
    Thanks again,
    – Fritz
