  • How do I delete the “2014” from before my photo captions in the Twenty Eleven theme. I deleted this from the css style sheet:

    .wp-caption .wp-caption-text:before {
    color: #666;
    content: ‘2014’;
    font-size: 14px;
    font-style: normal;
    font-weight: bold;
    margin-right: 5px;
    position: absolute;
    left: 10px;
    top: 7px;

    But the 2014 is still showing up. Will I have to delete and re-upload all photos? Here’s a page where it’s happening:

    Any help is much appreciated.

  • By 2014, do you actually mean the page permalink structure 2012/04? because I can’t see anything with 2014 on this page.

    Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

    the character is gone (clear the browser cache);

    possibly reduce the padding as well:

    .wp-caption .wp-caption-text {
    	margin-bottom: 0.6em;
    	padding: 10px 0 5px 40px;
    	position: relative;

    change 40px to 10px

    consider to create a child theme of Twenty Eleven to work with –

    otherwise, any customisations will be lost when you next upgrade the theme.

    Ah- I’m so new at this I didn’t think to clear the browser. Thank you! One other thing – apparently, I’ve done something to jumble my menu items all together. They were much better spaced. How do I do that (After I create a child theme, of course)?

    Nevermind – Fixed the menu thing. I’m guessing you probably roll your eyeballs umpteen times a day at some of the things we ask. But as a newbie, I am so appreciative for all the help from you pros. Thank you!!
