• Hi a client gave me just the wordpress access password with no ftp or cpanel access

i was editing the wp-config.php and uploaded via a file manager plugin

it failed to upload so i stupidly deleted the original config file so i could just upload the new file, but of course without thinking the wordpress shutdown without the config file so now its at the install stage attempting to start a fresh wordpress

i contacted the client, he gave me a cpanel password but that wont login and so he needs to contact his host. BUT he is taking too long

i have a copy of the wp-config.php file is there any way around this?

would starting a fresh wordpress via the installer and setting the database to the original databse wipe the database and would all his plugins be wiped including woocommerce products

once i get cpanel access its a 10 second easy upload fix, but is there another way

    – You need access your server via FTP/ SFTP , or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these).

    – Try contacting the hosting provider and ask them if they a backup of this site taken before this issue. If they do, ask them to restore the file.

    – If needed, you may also recreate the wp-config.php file. To recreate a new one, make a copy of wp-config-sample.php (which comes with the fresh WprdPress download) and add all of your database connection details. Then save the new file as wp-config.php and upload it to your WP folder.

With the cPanel password you can login to the hosting management panel, then using the file manager there upload your local copy of wp-config.php to the website files.
