[Resolved] Deleted Link Categories Cause 404’s

  • Hi,

Well, we removed our blogroll & all the links & categories(except the default)and now all such pages are being recognized as 404’s by Google & Yahoo. I have read what I could pertaining to Link Categories but I am not sure I understand how they work. I figured that deleting outbound links would not cause 404 errors on my site, which seems to be true but deleting the categories in which said links were listed, has caused the 404’s.

So, what to do if I no longer want to use Link Categories & wish to remove them? I am missing something here in regards to how WP operates or is there no way to remove Link Categories without getting 404’s?

As far as Google & Yahoo, I can always let them know that the urls such as, /categories/link-categories/page-6, for example, no longer exist or just let them drop off. I would rather avoid the 404’s altogether though if possible. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks!
