Deleted images showing in Media and Pages

I have an Art website. I upload an image and often have to go fix it because its just too dark. The process is to delete the existing images then upload the new ones.

I am having problems. The new uploads have the same names as the old ones. However, WP is displaying the old images. If I look at them in line mode instead of grid, they are correct.

It gets worse. Then I go to a page using the image. I change/update the references. The old image are used most of the time. For some reason it occasionally works. Last night, I saved a page were one of thses correct images showed up. In another window, i navigated to the page and clicked it. Wp-Video-Lightbox was used to display the Deleted image. Not even the one that was on the screen.

Eventually, these problems clear up. I think that it may have something to do with saving the page (not the individual control on the page) and then waiting a while. Last night, I could only see what was out there but changing to a different browser. There I saw that the changes were correct. But in my working browser (ms Edge), not. Again, somewhere after a time,it all cleared up.

It is very irritating as well as time consuming. You never know if uploads worked or not. Even if you trust it did, its damned hard to work guessing if the image you are looking at is correct or something else.

My total guess is that the DB links are not being cleared and possible there are some hanging thumbnail images still out there. Possibly some cashing. I sure dont know. Whatever! Something seems to require a fix. Or a button to click to do a refresh somewhere.
