I accidentally deleted my database (I use the word accidentally to cover up my stupidity 🙂 ) * As an experiment I took the full site down via ftp and then tried to ftp the old site by uploading the backup I had. Unfortunately when I done all that I got only the Hello post that you would get when putting up a new blog. * Is there anything I can do? I had been trying something which just didn’t work out. * Unfortunately the data base has gone, though the back-up of the wordpress that I was using is sitting on my hard drive. * When the database got deleted I then deleted all the files on my domain in the vain hope that if I reinstalled wordpress with the back up material I could regain the old database, unfortunately that hasn’t worked. * I have to accept that the data bas is gone but is there anyway from the backups I have on my hard drive that I can reclaim the files that were on the net.
