# Deleted all WordPress files

 * I did something stupid: I meant to clean out the root on my webspace but leave
the WordPress directory. Of course I deleted it also. I was able to upload the
WordPress files and somehow fiddle things into running again but I’m feeling
like a clean install would be better.
 * I’m a bit confused about this so this post is probably not the clearest, though
I hope it’s in the right place.
 * I guess what I’m driving at is this: are there any problems concerning deleting
the WordPress files and then uploading them again without an install? What’s
best to do to fix these problems if there are any?

 * You kind of did what you might do in an upgrade. If your blog is working you’re
likely okay. You might read [Upgrading_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress)
to see if there’s anything more you might want to consider.

 * Thanks a lot! Since I I only needed to fiddle with the style sheet to get it
   working I should be ok.

 * This sparks a question that’s not really related. But since this is sort of a
connected issue I’ll just post it here.
 * One of the files I upload is wp-config.php, which contains vital security information(
password really) in plain text. Admittedly I wasn’t able (not a concerted effort)
to get the info from the web myself, but still, is this secure?

 * It’s secure. There are a few hundred thousand WP blogs, and if there was a way
to get that info, it would have been done by now 🙂

 * It’s good to be reassured 🙂 Of course that’s the obvious thing but I like to
take the more paranoid approach to computer related security, rather than the
   less paranoid 🙂
