Support » Fixing WordPress » Delete user, but keep who wrote the post

  • Resolved Steven

Currently, you can select to delete all posts, or attribute all posts and links to a new user.

What if I want to delete a user, but still keep that he wrote those posts? Is there a plugin that I can use for this?

  • Why not just reset his password and change the email address on the account? If you wanted, you could even change the username.

I can – or just assign a role with no rights.

The problem is that my website will have contributes that will come and go. After a few years, I will be starting to have a pretty big list og users.

Therefore I would like to delete users, but still be able to give credit for the articles they wrote.

    Any other suggestions?

    I guess not.

I’ve temporarly creted a role called ‘archived’.
This role has no rights (I hope) and I Assign this role to users that will no longer have acess rights – along with changing username and password.
