Delete profile to generate one through host

    Hi. I created a new domain and hosting through ICDSoft, connected to WP. When I couldn’t figure out how to activate it, I also created a profile at WP. Now I can’t complete the activation process through ICDSoft because i get this error message: An overlapping WordPress installation was found. You can’t have a WordPress installation in a subdirectory of another WordPress installation.

    How do i delete the profile in WP so I can move forward with this new domain? I can’t seem to get to dashboard with settings, but am stuck here: https://profiles.wordpress.org/playaloreto/profile/edit/group/1/

    I suppose it could work to link to ICDSoft from WP if there is a way to do that. Files are already installed on the domain. One way or another, please help. Thank you!

    (I also have different, functioning, WP/ICDSoft website that I don’t want to damage by accident.)

    First, to be clear, WordPress.org itself has no connection to your site. This is just where we develop and support WordPress. WordPress installations are entirely self-contained.

    It sounds like your hosting provider has built or uses a third-party installer with which I’m unfamiliar. You might want to check your hosting account’s control panel for anything related to this or check their documentation.

    If that doesn’t work, you can always access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these) to delete the undesired installation.

    Please contact the support of ICDSoft. The message originates from their systems and not from the WordPress software itself. Therefore, it is not possible to help you here in the forum.

    The message has nothing to do with your profile at wordpress.org. Local installations are always completely independent of this.

    Thanks for your replies. Maybe I put too much information.

    I just need to delete the WP profile i made in haste. How do i delete a WP profile from here: https://profiles.wordpress.org/playaloreto/profile/edit/group/1/?

    You cannot. See this to have your account “anonymized” (sp?). https://wordpress.org/about/privacy/

    On the other hand, if this is your only wp.org account, keep it so you can continue to use the support forums.
