• Hi all-
I recently started up a website, and have noticed that when I google the site, the posts that I posted on here (the support forums) comes up… because, I listed my username on here the same as the website. (Yeah, I know!)

The posts have some personal information about my website, among other things. I am just wondering if there is anyway that I can delete the topics, or make them unviewable? Or, if I delete my account under this username, and create another one, will the posts be null and void?

Thanks in advance. 🙂 I hope everyone is having a great weekend- it has been nasty, cold, and rainy here in Austin.

  • Several problems, and a maybe solution:

Even if the username and the associated topics herein are deleted, google still has the info, and it will still sit there until whatever point google realizes it’s dead links or ages out naturally (and I don’t honestly know how long that is). And it would be up to a mod whether they wanted to delete your entire history herein – for one thing, that might cause problems with otherwise perfectly viable topics.

But there is a possibility that you can get google to remove the links – I’m not sure where it’s located, but you could just email google and inquire. They’ve been pretty good about getting back to me when I’ve asked some of my normally oddball stuff….

Keep in mind that the other search engines no doubt also have at least some of the info – and I don’t know if they have “mitigation” practices in place.

You might waste an awful lot of time trying to fix the problem. Might be better just to eat it and chalk it up to experience, keeping in mind a better system for next time.
