Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Deleted Product Categories Still Show

I needed to do a complete update of our Product Categories. This is the process I used

    1. I deleted all the existing product cats
    2. I checked the product categories list. All products had been reassigned as Uncategorized and all the existing categories had gone
    3. I imported a product list with the new categories
    4. The Product Category List showed all the new categories with the correct number of products assigned to them
    5. It still does not show any of the old categories. As far as the Product Categories list is concerned, the old categories have been deleted

However, when I go into Add Product, the categories window shows the new categories and SOME, but not all, of the old categories.

How can I delete these entries please?

    Hi there,
This sounds like a caching issue.
Please deactivate any caching plugins you are using and test.
if the problem persists I suggest that you contact your hosts to ask about site caching on the server side, and how to disable it while you test this out.

I hope that helps you to figure it out.
Feel free to get back to us if you have further questions.

We have no caching plugins on the site. My host was running MemCache but has disabled that temporarily. It has made no difference – the “ghost” items are still there.

I’d be grateful for any ideas to get rid of these because it’s only a matter of time before someone uses one in error.

    TIA

Hi @paulbarrett1952. Sorry that we missed your reply. Are you still facing this issue? If so, please share screenshots showing some of the deleted categories when editing a product and your categories from Products > Categories. Also, please share your system report with me. You can find it by going to WooCommerce > Status > Get system report and then click Copy for support to share it in your reply.

Hi @paulbarrett1952. We haven’t heard back from you, which I hope indicates you’ve resolved the issue. If you have any other questions, please start a new thread.

    Hello !
I also have this kind of error.
No caching is present on website or server.
Old categories are not showing up in Product – Categories.
They are showing up in the Appearance- Menu – Product Categories ( as well in any other plugin that list the categories)
Also, when I pick Product Categories for the menu, not all of them will go through.
    Thank you !
