Delete order

What is best practice to delete an order? If I simply delete the order, the number of free tickets does not change and the order is still in the OpenTickets report – If I change the order to 0 and put the price to 0 save and then delete the order, it works fine and the order is removed from the report.Earlier, I just deleted the order and then released the order in advanced tools under system status. But for some reason, it does not work anymore. It tells me that the order is not in DB. The same happens in advanced tools if I try to release an order for tickets that are in the basket on unfinished orders.
Right now I am on version 2.8.5
