 * Can I safely delete tables created by plugins no longer in use?
    Thanks, Kjetil–

 * Just playing safe
    Wouldn’t think it would harm, but since I don’t know the deep
   logic in databases, I’m checking out. Again I can only guess from your answer
   that it is safe. Not a very risky guess – I guess :o)
 * A less obvious question is **how to tell exactly which tables I can delete**.
   Their names are not always logical – but maybe there’s some way to identify them?

   Thanks

 * Here’s a list you wouldn’t want to delete:
    [Database Description](http://codex.wordpress.org/Database_Description)
 * Otherwise you may have to make best guess with table name vs. plugin name.

 * Thanks again Michael – really useful.
    My guess is that the pages will load quicker
   with less tables (?) – anyhow, no use in keeping them. Spring cleaning to be
   done :o)

 * And of course, you know to do a backup before BLOW things up 😉

 * Of course. With [the best backup tool](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-dbmanager/)/
   plugin out there.
    (Just check which version is compatible with your WP version–
   eg [v231](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-dbmanager/download/) for WP26)
