@paper Bird – Please try clearing the NextGEN Gallery image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous … click the clear image cache button.
@lisalaw – Although this may help with your situation, there is no way to know as it is nearly impossible for your to have “same issue exactly” unless you use the same web host, on the same server with the same theme, plugins, and content. There are almost no exceptions to the idea of it being best to create your own topic if you are having an issue … no matter the plugin (or theme) you are seeing the issue with.
Many thanks, I am not a developer so obviously didn’t mean we were in identical situations in terms of theme, content and web host though I am aware these can have an impact hence the switch to the installed wordpress themes to see if it made a difference, I merely meant in terms of the deleted image path remaining no matter what plugins I deactivated, theme switched etc etc, – will create own topic next time – apologies.
I cleared the image cache, Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous > Clear Image Cache.
After doing that, I went to Manage Galleries > selected a gallery > Then clicked the ‘delete’ link for one of the images.
I went to the page with the gallery and there is a broken link. (Text link with image border, but no thumbnail. Clicking the link results in a “requested content cannot be loaded” error.)
So I clicked the ‘Clear Image Cache’ button again, refreshed the page with the gallery, and the link to the orphan image is gone.
I suppose I can just expect to press either the ‘Clear Image Cache’ or ‘Update Sort Order’ buttons each time I’ve deleted an image from a gallery. Not too big of a deal, I suppose. Also, earlier versions of Nextgen didn’t exhibit this issue.
@paper Bird – Thanks for letting us know your experience with this … it has already been put forward to review the clear image cache functionality to see if/when it can be triggered by other actions where we have seen issues similar to yours reported.
No probs Cais, I am still picking my way through the various forums etiquette of posting – some complain if you don’t hijack a similar problem and start your own topic.
The clearing the cache was as above and am happy to update sort order to move the broken link again. It’s a work around that’s not too inconvenient as in the page anyway. It’s still by far the best gallery plugin out there.
