    I changed my permalinks from the default links (example: /?p=123) to /sample-post/a few months ago. When I installed Sumome, I realized I lost the counts for everything except the front page. I thought it wouldn’t make a difference since it didn’t break any links on the WP installation. I can only find info online about how to get the count back based on changing non-default permalinks to other non-default permalinks, not default to non-default. Can this be done, and if so, how?

    Hey there!

    You’ll want to create or modify your existing Open Graph meta tags to reflect the previous URL your content was located at.

    SumoMe relies on your Open Graph tags to determine what is shared and what your share numbers are. If you don’t have Open Graph tags setup, it will use your actual page URL/Title.

    For Twitter we support the following Twitter card tags in lieu of Open Graph tags:

    * twitter:title
    * twitter:image
    * twitter:creator
    * twitter:site
    * twitter:url

    Check out our awesome FAQ that explains how SumoMe works and what it Shares:

    * Share & Open Graph – https://help.sumome.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2287210

    Please make sure you read up on Open Graph tags and make sure you use the Facebook Debugger if your Facebook share information is not up to date.

    It’s facebook I’m concerned with only, and I have read through this page twice, and I don’t understand how putting an og code in my header will solve this issue. Do I need to put and og meta tag in each individual page and post with the original link structure?

    Write in to our support team (https://help.sumome.com) and include the following:

    * The URL of a page on your current site where your previous share numbers are not reflected
    * The URL this page had previously been using

    And they’ll be able to assist. 🙂
