Defining New Directory For WordPress Image Library Gives Error For Thumbnails

I have defined a new Directory For my WordPress images Library as
wp-config.php
define('UPLOADS', 'images');

Problem With Library Thumbnail

But when I upload images from the library, the images go perfectly within the defined directory images. However, the Library does not get any thumbnails, instead, a blank thumbnail appears as below.

Also, when I try to open the URL of the image from the thumbnail, it appears that the URL has repetition with reference to the old uploads folder as below.

https://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads//home/u23sdfks/domains/example.com/public_html/images/2020/02/some-image.jpg
