define('ALTERNATE_WP_CRON', true); causes website blackout

  • I hope anybody can help me.

I had some issues with the post scheduling which did not seem to work suddenly (it used to work always).

After reading the forum I came accross a posible solution adding define(‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’, true); to the wp-config file …..

Well I did and now the whole site went blank and gives an HTTTP 500 error. I removed the define(‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’, true); extra line but the site and admin still don’t work.

Does anybody know how to solve this ??? Is this something I have to look for in the database and if so, what do I look for to get rid of.

Are there any experts out there who can help me ???
    Thank you very much.

  • I hope you already got help with this, when site goes blank after editing PHP file you have a 99.99999% chance it is due to a syntax error in your php file. Open it in Dreamweaver or other code viewer which will highlight or tell you where the error is.
