Define selected variable attribute via url / link

    Is there any way to link to a product and manipulate what the default/selected variation of the product’s attributes are?

    Like say I was selling two similar items, via one product with a variation setup to distinguish between the two (because they are similar and same cost) but I wanted to have hard links in a post/page to each of these “items” or rather the variations of this single product but that would select the different variations via a url?

    Hopefully I explained that well enough to get my question across.
