Hi @sailors,
It looks like files with .webp extensions are skipped from lazy loading. I will need some time to debug and verify this.
Best regards,
Anton
Hi Anton,
Please let me know when it’s ready. I leave the WebP option off for now.
Hi @sailors,
The fix will be available in one of the upcoming updates. Can’t promise the upcoming update, as it’s already finishing testing, but if not the next, the one after
Best regards,
Anton
hello Anton, just wanted to check, as it has been nearly 3 months since your reply, are you getting close to adding webp to lazy loading in Media Types please (page=smush&view=lazy_load)? I have webp files present on my server and they are served in html and sadly are completely disregarded from lazy loading as there is no option in your media types to select it.. Also on that note I’ve noticed jpeg as one of the options, does ticking it also selects jpg files or would user need to go and change all jpg extensions to jpeg?

Hi @robaczek1,
We’ve had some issues with the latest update, so we’ve had to delay the release to wp.org. Hopefully, all the updates will be published to wp.org next week. Sorry for such a delay.
Best regards,
Anton
No need to apologies, we all know how it is 😉 That’s actually great news, am I to understand this update will in fact include a new media type selector for webp images in the lazy load section?
I was wondering too if it has been taken care of already, if not when that would be. I tested a month ago or so and noticed it had still the same issue then so deactivated the webp. Hopefully the upcoming update next week will fix the issue.
Just released the updates
I still get the Defer offscreen images for WebP images. I have Hummingbird, Autoptimize plugins and Cloudflare installed and only activated Lazyload in Smush.
@sailors,
I just did a PageSpeed scan and the “Defer offscreen images” report is passed.
Best regards,
Anton
I get this both mobile and desktop,
