I just installed Defender for the first time, on a brand new WP site.
I activated the Hide Login feature, specified a new url, and selected the feature to redirect all spam/bots from any of the admin areas to a default page.
Then, I logged in using my new url. After login, the system took me to the redirect page rather than the admin area! Also, even though I am logged in as an admin, there is NO WAY to get myself to the back end!!!
So, I disabled the plugin AND deleted it.
Well, guess what, now when I try to go to wp-admin or wp-login.php, I’m still taken to the redirect page I specified!!!
    This should NOT happen. EVER.
I get that redirect should work while the plugin is active, and I also get that you have a bug, because once I log in, I SHOULD be able to get to the wp-admin page.
Now I’m in a position where I cannot even get to the backend of the website, even though I’m an administrator (the ONLY user actually).
I cannot think of any way to fix this problem except to completely re-install the entire site.
    This SUX big time.

    Hi @ddmcleod

Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

We don’t have any confirmed bug for such behaviour, can you please double check if the permalinks are working well on your website and try to resave them in WordPress > Settings > Permalink?

I tested Defender on a Fresh site using PHP 8 > Apache server and didn’t have any issues, when the mask URL is configured it is expected after the login to redirect to the correct page:

The only redirect we get back to the login page is if we try to access the /login or /login.php after the user is logged in but this is because it is the default behaviour of WordPress and Defender will keep the same.

Also please, check if the cookie domain is working well https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/215032/cookie-domain-setting-confusion

Had you configured any other module like 2FA or just mask URL?

    Best Regards
