    Hi @gerardhuguenin,
    Thanks for your message.

Can you please check your WordPress settings as per the ‘New Comment’ section of this support document: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/available-notifications/

Let me know how you get on.

In my search for a solution, I also went to see this document. For this reason, I changed “new comment” to “new post published” without result.

Some explanations: I use the comments of WP for a “Prayer chain”. You can post a “prayer” even without being registered. It is immediately displayed. There is no need for approval. See on my website communion.ch, Menu : “Chaîne de prières”.

    Hi @gerardhuguenin,
Which plugin are you using for this? That plugin may not be using the comments or post system as expected.

I use the source system for comments WP. But I use the following plugins: “WP Mail SMTP” and “Better Recent Comments”. When I activate the BNWP plugin, I deactivate “cbnet Multi Author Comment Notification”, since BNWP can also send notifications to all subscribers. I can give you my ID and password if you want to examine my configuration.

    Hi @gerardhuguenin,
I can’t provide the level of support where I log in and take a look at your site unfortunately. It sounds like a potential plugin or theme conflict to me though.

Please can you make your way through this document and let me know how you get on?

All is up to date. My theme is Sapor (2016). I deactivated the following plugins without success:”Better Recent Comments”, “cbnet Multi Author Comment Notification”, “SB Welcome Email Editor”, “WP Mail SMTP” AND “WP Super Cache”. I have activated “Classic Editor” without result. After that, I have activated Clean Up Optimizer to clean my website but without result !

Apparently, I don’t see any incompatibility with my extensions, as they are not equivalent to BNWP. There may be a compatibility problem with my theme. In this case, I see two solutions (because I don’t want to change the theme):
    1. Install an older version of BNWP (my Automattic Sapor theme is from 2016).
    2. Do not install BNWP and tell me how to change the text of WP notifications for comments. It must be possible, but I don’t know how. Which file to modify? I am using String Locator: this could allow me to modify it, if I knew which file it was.

Note : instead of Classic Editor, I use TinyMCE Advanced.

I got to point 12 of the document. I successfully installed Post SMTP Mailer. I sent a comment to test the notification. In the email database (log), there is only the email received and which is not that of BNWP. That of BNWP is therefore not sent, despite the BNWP sending test. My site is hosted by OVH in multisite. When I do a test, I just send a comment.

    Hi @gerardhuguenin,
    Thanks for testing.

It still sounds like a plugin or theme conflict to me but if you’re unable to change some parts of your website, that’s absolutely fine, but you may not be able to use BNFW as expected – I try to make the plugin as compatible as possible but it’s difficult to provide 100% compatibility with all plugins and themes.

If you can’t use BNFW, I’d recommend changing this email through custom code. Providing this works, this article may help: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/170149/how-can-i-edit-the-email-sent-when-a-new-comment-is-received
You may need a developer to help you with this.

    Hope this helps.

I have perhaps an explanation for this bug. The notification for comments is sent with the adress mail: webmaster@communion.ch and I receive it through the adress info@communion.ch (redirection). In your plugin, we can’t choose the adress mail to sent. With the test mail, I receive the test mail with the adress info@communion.ch.
You sent me a page to change the code of the mail page. Is there not, more simply, a page of the mail template in WP where I could simply change the text of the message, without changing the codes?

    Hi @gerardhuguenin,
Unfortunately there isn’t, that’s why BNFW exists – to make it easy to do this. However, if another plugin/theme is also overriding this notification then it’s classed a conflict.

I test an other Plugin “Notifications – Custom Notifications and Alerts” with the same result ! I renonce for the moment. The notifications of WordPress are not so bad !
Thank you for your help to search a solution.

    Not a problem.
