 * I got this error message after I tried to change some settings from my BUENO
   theme:
 * ************************
    The following themes are installed but incomplete.
   Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
 * Name Beschreibung (Description)
    default Es fehlt ein Stylesheet. (Stylesheet
   is missing) ****************************************
 * I didn t know if it was there from the start or if I triggered it and I couldn
   t work out the problem, so I deleted everything, the whole website and restarted
   from scratch.
 * now, I log on wordpress – and I have done nothing, there is no content whatsoever
   on the site, no themes (except the TwentyTen), plug-ins, widgets or whatever
   installed – and the message remains.
 * my url is: [http://mit-rucksack-und-kind.de/wp/](http://mit-rucksack-und-kind.de/wp/)
 * any ideas? could it be a problem with my hosting service (it s a German one called
   HostEurope)? any guesses how to solve the issue?

 * You didn’t need to start over. It sounds as if all you needed to do is re-upload
   the theme. The message means WordPress could not find all the files it needed
   for the theme. Sometimes files get corrupted, a re-upload is often all you need
   to do to fix that.
 * If you deleted everything did you also delete the database? Probably not… **if
   this is a 2nd, new install,** it isn’t using the database you established before.
   The first database is probably still there at your host, and will still contain
   the posts and content. Do you have access at the host to phpmyAdmin?
 * Assuming you have in fact actually done a second install of WordPress, and there
   are now 2 databases:
 * See this site: [http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/](http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/)

   The links at the top left about backing up and restoring your data are what you
   want. You’ll need to log on at your host, get into phpmyAdmin (the help articles
   tell you how) and backup/download the first database. Then restore the 1st database
   into the 2nd WordPress install (your current one) — by that I mean, you will
   over-write the 2nd database (the one your site is based on now) with the 1st
   database.
 * Depending upon how you installed them, you may need to reinstall plugins after
   restoring the first database.

 * thanks moodle!
 * I did reupload the theme (before I started all over again) and it still had that
   error. Then I decided to start all over again. Now, I haven t done anything and
   it says the “stylesheet is missing” at the default TwentyTen theme.
 * And yes, i did delete the database but I exported the files before. That is not
   a big deal. My problem is the missing default.css because it means I cannot edit
   the theme the way I want to. I have no idea where it is – and because it is missing
   at the theme TwentyTen as well I thought it might be a problem with my host.
   It doesn t allow .htaccess.

 * If you log in with your FTP program, and navigate on the host to the theme folder
   for TwentyTen and the stylesheet is, in fact, there, then WordPress can’t find
   it.
 * So you might want to check the header and the link to the stylesheet, make sure
   that is correct.
 * You could hard code the URL to the stylesheet, meaning don’t use any PHP/WP code,
   just the straight URL. Maybe with the mucking about the database has some corrupted
   info about the stylesheet’s location.
 * FYI WordPress looks for the theme stylesheet as “style.css” not “default.css”.
