    1. Under DIRECTORY ADMIN > MANAGE FIELD OPTIONS > LISTINGS Tab I set the following:

    Listings” />

Under my category, it is not displaying the newest post first, no matter how I change the settings, the default sort doesn’t change.

    2. Under Sortbar fields, I want to sort by the Location Area field with is a meta field but it does not seems to appear under the Sortbar fields. How come not all fields show up for Sortbar sorting?

Yes, I already Enabled Sortbar Fields checkbox.

    Hi Carol,

Sorry that you ran into issues here!

Sounds like you may be seeing a cached version of the directory and you’re not seeing updates as you publish new listings. Is that accurate?

If you create a new directory listing and you have a cache active on your site, you must clear that cache to see the NEW data available.

If you don’t flush the cache after that operation, you’ll be seeing old data on your browser.

We recommend clearing the server cache, if you have one (which is found either in your hosting settings or on your plugin settings for things like WP Super Cache and W3TC if you have them installed), as well as your client browser cache.

The best way to get uncached data on your browser is to use a Private browsing window or Incognito mode (depending on your browser). That ensures you’re seeing the latest, correct data.

For the Sortbar issue, the reason not all fields are available under there has to do with an old WP limitation on the type of fields that were allowed to use for sorting in a WP query. That restriction appears to be outdated now (we added this feature about 2 years ago), so we can look to restore it in the near future. But that’s how it works today.

Please do not mark this resolved until it is really resolved.

    1. No, can’t be the cache if every single computer in the world still sees the same sorting, my client is very angry and demanding that I can’t even do the basic default sorting (Newest listing first)

    2. I upgraded to the newest version of WordPress, now I am 4.6.1 but I still do not see the location fields in the Sortbar fields…not all the fields are showing for the Sortbar

    Hi Carol,

We mark threads resolved purely for forum cleanliness. If you respond to any thread, I will answer, no problems.

Upgrading WP would not fix the sortbar issue–that’s one we have to change internally to handle the differences in WP for this newer version that it did not support. But the listings not showing by date is a problem.

Let’s take this offline and see if we find the cause more quickly here.

I just resolved the Sortbar issue this morning…

I just sent the an email to the Business Directory Plugin support link for further consultation for the Default sorting by newest post issue.

    Hi Carol,

OK–we’ll keep the conversation in email to avoid further confusion. Looks like you have some extensive customizations to BD, which may be part of this issue. We’ll discuss that via email.
