Support » Plugin: Genesis Portfolio Pro » Default portfolio pro project image for main portfolio types views

  • Hi

I am using the Breakthrough theme with portfolio pro.

As such, it gives me the option to add a default Default Post, Page, and Portfolio Image which “appears at the top of posts, pages, and portfolio items if a featured image is not set.”

However, this default image only appears in the project single-post view. In the archive template no images appear. So It ends up being a mixture of just project titles (for projects with no featured image) and project titles with featured images (for those that do).

How would I go about specifying a new image to be the default image on the archive pages (for the main portfolio page and all portfolio types/categories)?

I would prefer to set a new image for this rather than just utilise the current default Post, Page, and Portfolio Image that I already have set.

I’m using simple hooks, but I don’t recall there being hooks for portfolio types.

    Thank you.

  • Hi @judodesign,

Displaying a featured image at the top of portfolio archive pages would require customizing the code of the theme.

If you need assistance with customizing your theme’s code, you could post your question in the StudioPress community forum where other Genesis users and developers can provide suggestions on how to proceed. https://studiopress.community/

Or you could also check out the other Genesis community resources such as the Slack channel: http://genesis.community/slack and Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/genesiswp/

    Hi @susannelson

    Thanks for your reply.

Sorry. My explanation was a bit muddled!

I only want to have a default featured image for portfolio posts. Not create a main image at the top of portfolio archive pages (although now you mention it, that might look quite nice 🙂

Currently, any portfolio post without a featured image is just blank on the main portfolio page and the portfolio types pages. The mixture of with and without images is unappealing and a bit messy.

Do you know what I mean?

    Thanks.

    Hi @judodesign,

Thanks for the clarification. I understand what you mean now. 🙂

The plugin doesn’t include a feature to display a default

Sorry about that! I hit submit too soon. I’ll be back in a few mins.

    Sorry about that!

I wanted to let you know that the plugin does not include a feature to display a default featured image on single portfolio posts. You can, however, customize the theme to include this.

You might want to post a question in the Genesis community (forums, Facebook group, Slack channel) where another user may have done something similar and can offer guidance.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
