    Hi there,

I’m trying hard to optimise my website regarding fonts. They seem to slow down page speed. I’m using OceanWP and Elementor. After testing it turned out I’m using 13 fonts. I have made changes in Customiser > Typography in Ocean WP and Chose only Poppins and Roboto 400 + 700 in weight for both. That should reduce my number of fonts to at least 6.

When checking the fonts on my website with the WhatFont, it turns out that the GDPR Cookie Consent plugin uses the theme default font Roboto 300.

How can I modify that detail? And how can I decrease the number of fonts used on my website to the actual 6 I’m currently using:

    Poppins 400
    Poppins 700

    Roboto 400
    Roboto 400 italic

    Roboto 700
    Roboto 700 italic.

    Thank you so much!

    Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your reply. On PageSpeed Insights you will see that there are 12 fonts.

And on GTMetrix you will see that the largest file on my homepage is Fonts.

You you delete cache and then identify the font on my Cookie Policy GDPR with WhatFont you will see that it is Roboto 300. I set the body font Roboto 400 in the Costumizer.

If I inspect the Homepage in Style Sheets I see that the whole family of Roboto and Poppins is imported, instead of only the fonts weights and styles I use.

I hope I’m not making you laugh because of my web-coding iliteracy.

    Thanks again,
    Cezarina

    Hi,

When using default Fonts (from the theme), Google will load all styles from google fonts regardless of the style being used.
So if a font has 11 styles, for example, all will be loaded. That’s how google fonts function.
The only way to avoid this is to upload only the styles needed and host fonts locally.

You can follow the doc if you want to add a custom font: https://docs.oceanwp.org/article/128-how-to-add-custom-fonts
