# Default Categories does not work

 * I have disabled the Post Category option
    I have ticked the ‘Hidden/Default Category’
   I have added the slug ‘news’ to the Category ID for Hidden Field Note that ‘News’
   is one of my categories. However, when a user posts, the post is asigned to ‘
   uncatagorized’ – what am I doing wrong. I want all my posts to be assigned to
   the Category of ‘News’ Thank you

 * Glad to help. The setting clearly asks for a category **ID**, which means that
   you will need to get the numerical ID for the “news” category (or whichever category
   you would like to use). Here is a [simple guide](https://bobwp.com/find-post-page-category-id-wordpress/)
