Support » Plugin: Simple Subscribe » Deactivating daily on it's own :(

Hi, I love your plugin, but something is odd…

Almost daily, your plugin deactivates itself?
I’m having to re-activate it manually, I’ve not had it send any emails yet as the site is in development.
But do you think this is server related because of cron jobs etc?

  • Hm.

The plugin itself doesn’t have a feauture of deactivating like that. Only moment – it can deactivate itself is, when the click “activate” and the minimum requirements are not met. Which might happen only once – first time activation.

So that is really odd. No idea why are you experiencing this tho, since I can’t connect this to Simple Subscribe behaviour.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Martin,

I have exactly the same problem. Seems like the plugin gets deactivated after some hours. I don’t have the slightest idea why..

This is really annoying, because your plugin seems to be very nice and exactly what I need.
If you need any information I would be happy to help you.

    Best regards,

I think I discovered it was a CRON issue, the server I use doesn’t allow automated CRON jobs, and maybe WordPress deactivates plugins which keep trying. But that’s a guess.

I’ve never seen a plugin deactivate itself daily, but only this plugin seems to do it!

I’ve since had to abandon using this plugin, even if I didn’t want automated emails it was a pain to have to activate the plugin daily.

Hi Richard, thanks for your answer. I have other plugins with cron jobs running on the same server without any problems. Perhaps there is a problem how Simple Subscribe is handling the cron jobs!? Would be nice to hear something from Mart about this.

Richard, did you find any other similar plugin?

    Thanks for your help,

    Hi Marco,

I mentioned Cron as it seems to be DAILY it deactivates itself, and never stays active for more than 24hrs at a time.

I ended up using “Newsletter Manager” by XYZ.

A shame, since I think this plugin was better for what I needed but could not find a solution.
I’ve left it installed in case an update ever arrives that fixes it!

I hope with more than 1 of us now having the same problem Mart can look into it further.

I discovered this plugin clashes with two of my templates (purchased templates), and causes Javascript errors.
So another conclusion is WordPress is deactivating this plugin perhaps.

Anyway, I’ve spent too much time trying to make this work so calling it a day now.
