    Hi,

is there any possibility to deativate the tracking pixel in the ads?
Due to the General Data Protection Regulation I want to use the plugin without the tracking pixel.

    Regards,
    Daniel

    😮 I didn’t know there was one!

Can you tell me more about it, Daniel?

    Thank you!

    Hi Sebastian,

when you inspect the HMTL output (e.g. with chrome developer tools) there is a tracking pixel before the enclosing DIV tag like

I want to remove this tracking pixel, but I don’t want to change the plugin by myself if possible (because of updates, …)

    Regards

    Dear @dafn,

Can you please let us know what clause of GeneralDataProtectionRegulation is being violated by using this tracking-pixel?

    Hi,

I think that the user has to be informed about the tracking and I’m not sure if this have to be done *before* the tracking code is executed. I would like to avoid this due to users can be deterrred.

Furthermore I’m not sure if I will need an opt-out option for the tracking.

Due to the common uncertainty I would like to remove all tracking methods from my websites – at least for the moment.

    Regards,
    Daniel

I second that. There should be an easy option to deactivate the facebook tracking pixel.

I don’t understand why there is a facebook pixel in the code, in the first place.

As I cannot edit my post above anymore: I would like to correct myself, it’s not a facebook pixel but an amazon tracking pixel. I was confused because of all the GDPR fuss lately.

Still: Is there any official statement or documentation on how to handle the plugin’s behaviour regarding the new legislation?
What type data is being processed when a user opens a page containing ads created by the plugin?
How do we have to inform the user about the usage of the data?
Will there be an opt-out feature so that a user can choose NOT to see ads and have their page visit tracked?

The GDPR should not be taken to lightly. Site owners can get in serious trouble with eager lawyers just waiting to find breaches and violations of the new laws.

The only alternative, right now, seems to be to NOT use the plugin until everything has been cleared up.

I have deactivated the plugin due to the missing option to remove the tracking pixels. Maybe I will activate it again if the tracking pixel can be removed or I have more experience with the GDPR.
