• Hi there

I use the latest wordpress on my website and tried to install the minipost2 – plugin, which needs the widget plugin. I activated both of them, then due to troubles, tried to deactivate the widget-plugin. Now the whole site doesn’t load. Only by deleting the two plugin-folders I could fix this. Now I’d like to remove and deactivate the plugins manually, because as soon as I upload the folders again, the site doesn’t load correctly. Is this a file I have to change or in the DB?

Thanks for the help in advance

  • Found this old post while looking for a solution myself.

If you forget to deactivate plugins before an upgrade, your upgrade can break.

The solution is to go to the wp_option table in your WordPress database, and look for the row with option_name ‘active_plugins’. Then empty this row’s ‘option_value’ field. This should deactivate all plugins.
