Hi, @athinaok.
Please access Settings > Metadata.
Then enable Clean Metadata toggle. It will be automatically disabled when finished.
Let me know if that solves your issue.
When I click the button it instantly turn off.
After deactivating and remove the plugin all images are off as it should be.
The problem was with plugin WP-optimize.
When I try to smush the internal image the following error is created
Could not find file for image: ID=45769, file=http://
Same issue with WP-smush plug in
Maybe I should the problem is created with thumbnail images thay left behind and need to run regenarate thumpnails…
Last but not least I would like to thank you for the fantastic plugin you created.

That’s correct. The toggle is disabled automatically when the cleaning process is finished. It’s very fast by the way.
Could not find file for image: ID=45769, file=http://
I don’t know WP-optimize or WP-smush, but of course they can’t optimize/edit an external image. It might be a good choice to have they disabled when you are cleaning the metadata.

Are those plugins able to create thumbnails for the external featured images too? Because FIFU doesn’t save any image, only URLs…
I thought that wordpress create the additional image sizes locally.
I decided to keep the plug in. Thank you for your time

WordPress does that for internal images, @athinaok. But WordPress can’t do that for external images. Since the images are not stored in your media library, there is no way to resize them and save them externally.
