It appears to me — and to others I’ve asked to research this as well — that merely deactivating Super Cache does not delete the cache created by the plugin. As a result, there is a stale cache waiting for Super Cache to deal with its expired pages, but since the plugin isn’t running, the cache just stays in place.

This caused me no end of headaches and lost productivity for over a week until I stumbled on the issue in a forum about another plugin altogether.

I’d consider this a major bug and I hope the developer here will fix it asap. Deactivating the plugin should definitely delete the cache or at least prompt for it and recommend it.
