    Hi,

Ive posted this in the general wp forum but have had no replies there so thought to come to the source. After reading most every post here im none the wiser.

I know im not the sharpest pencil in the box and this has had me stumped for a couple days now..

I have 2 sites live. I have completely rebuilt one on my Ampps multi site localhost install and am ready to upload & ‘live test’ it.

Excellent News – I used Duplicator to successfully clone the live sites to my Ampps localhost.

Not so excellent news – Created a new d/base & user in Hostgator Cpanel. I also created a subdomain to ‘live test’ the new site on Hostgator server prior to final change over / release.
U/l the install.php & archive files into the subdomain folder, run the Duplicator Install. It Connects, Deploys(Step 1) & Updates(Step 2)… all with with no errors or warnings.
At Test Step 3 however, it falls over.
    3.1 Install report = shows 0 errors & 0 warnings
3.2 Save permalinks = Error establishing a database connection
That is as far as I have got on many separate occasions now.

I then used the same 2 Duplicator files to successfully create a 2nd copy on my localhost, so I must presume the files are fine.

I have tried leaving the default hostname as ‘localhost’ and have also tried using the Hostgator Configuration Settings… same D/B Error on all occasions.

Like I said, im not too techie so do not know what other info to include.

    All suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  • Hey Togajoe,

Double check the values in the wp-config.php file. The plugin is suppose to update those values, however you may have an issue where the file isn’t getting updated. Be sure the values to the database look correct.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Cory,

    Sorry about delay in responding.
    It appears the drama was with;
Lines 45-52, Define Auth & Salt Keys
Resolved by using recommended method as per listed in wp-config.php to generate new keys.

    Cheers

    Excellent! Thanks for the update…
