Hi there,
The updater isn’t dependent on CRON as far as I’m aware; Have you tried to manually trigger the update using the system tools under WooCommerce > System Status > Tools > Update database ?
I’m having the same problem too. I tried the ‘update database’ option, but it just gives a ‘Database upgrade routine has been scheduled to run in the background.’ message, so it looks like it relies on cron? We now have 8 pending scheduled actions that aren’t doing anything. Is there any other way to force these through?
…mine have now completed, so it must have just taken longer than usual. Just thought I’d update the thread so others know to give it time.

@riaanknoetze I tried that, but as far as I see it doesn’t change anything. It schedules the update which doesn’t begin which is the very issue I am experiencing. I also tried deleting these scheduled tasks and then update again but still the same. No change.

@krko is your database now updated?
Hey there @noworganics
I have the same issue. It is just not updating
“Database upgrade routine has been scheduled to run in the background”
“Scheduled Actions” Blank
Do you mean that the Scheduled Actions page is blank?
Can you go to this page and see if the pending actions are in the past, please? wp-admin/tools.php?page=action-scheduler&status=pending
(add your domain to the start)
Have you tried going to WooCommerce > System Status > Tools > Update database as RK mentioned and updating that way again?
If the WooCommerce database still doesn’t update with only WooCommerce and the core Storefront theme active, then this means the issue is at a server level – speak to you host about overzealous caching or check to ensure the database user has delete permissions.
In the past two weeks I’ve seen the database update fails for all those reasons:
* Optimize-type plugins
* Caching (either host or plugin)
* Cron issues
* Database user permissions errors
Thanks,

Hi @noworganics @krko
We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
Thanks,
I had the same issue on a staging server of one my WooCommerce sites. I password protect domains on my staging sites and after I removed the protection the updates finished fairly quickly.
Anyone know why this is happening and any possible solutions? Thanks.
